Cavani has scored 10 goals in 14 Ligue 1 appearances ever since he joined PSG from Napoli in the summer transfer window and Ibrahimovic disclosed that the arrival of the 26-year-old has lifted the goalscoring burden on his shoulders.
“The presence of Cavani makes things easier for me. We help each other out. If I don’t score, he does. This is something we were missing last season,” Ibrahimovic told L’Equipe.
“He does a lot of work defensively as well and is a good addition to the team. We really need someone like him and are a stronger team than last year. If Cavani’s used in the right way, he adds a lot to the team.”
Ibrahimovic then went on to explain that Paris Saint-Germain can defeat any team if they play their own game, although he stresses that they are not on par with some of his former teams just yet.
“There is a bit more pressure than last season because we are the reigning champions, but we know that we can beat any opponent if we play our own game.
“This PSG are a great team, but the Barcelona team I played in was something else. AC Milan were fantastic as well and so were Juventus. But PSG are a great project.”
Les Parisiens currently tops Ligue 1 with 37 points from 15 games.
