The Globacom Nigeria Professional Football League (GNPFL), resumes this midweek with Matchday 32, after one week break. 10 matches will be played simultaneously across various match centres on Wednesday, 18th of September.
The battle for the league title continues as Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Bayelsa United and Elkanemi Warriors are in pole position to win the trophy, if they can keep up with their momentum. The relegation fight can not be overlooked as well as top teams in NPFL, 3SC, Lobi Stars and other club sides are on the brink of dropping to the lower league.
Heartland v 3SC
Bottom side Shooting Stars and the Naze Millionaires will be digging it down at Dan Ayiam Stadium in Owerri. This is a do-or-die affair for Shooting. Heartland have gone four games unbeaten and it is going to be a huge task for 3SC. Failure to get any point from this outing may condemn them to the lower league, as their position on the log is not encouraging. The hosts, Heartland FC beat Shooting Stars 0-2 in the first fixture.
Enyimba v Wikki Tourists
Smarting from a wonderful Federation Cup triumph plus their recent home form, the Peoples’ Elephant will be looking to crush basement side Wikki Tourists, when they meet at Enyimba International Stadium on Wednesday. Sunday Umanah goal was the major different in the first leg, as the Tourists narrowly edged the Aba Warriors by a lone goal.
Nembe City v Kano Pillars
The Samson Siasia stadium will once again come alive, as Nembe City will be hosting the League champions Kano Pillars, who are currently topping the 20-team league table.Pillars defeated the Baribote Boys 3-1 in Kano, when both teams first met in week 12.
Warri Wolves v Lobi Stars
2013 Federation Cup runner-ups Warri Wolves, who were defeated 5-4 on penalties, will have to put the loss behind them as they welcome the Benue Army. Lobi Stars won the first leg 1-0 in Makurdi, when John Okolie got the match winner for Lobi Stars. Lobi Stars must spring up a surprise in this game, but a draw will be a good result for them.
Kaduna Utd v Dolphins
Goals from Fred Okwara and Derek Amadi was all that the Pride of Rivers needed, to throttle the Crocodiles in the reverse fixture. Kaduna United have not lost a game at home this season and it is going to be a tall order for Dolphins to get a decent result from this encounter.
Sunshine Stars v El-Kanemi
The Akure Gunners will be facing one of the difficult teams in Akure this Wednesday, as they welcome Borno Warriors. El-Kanemi Warriors are very dangerous on the road since the second stanza of the league and they are capable of stunning home teams. The first encounter between the sides ended 1-0. Reuben Ogbonna scored the only goal to give El-Kanemi the maximum points.
Sharks v ABS FC
The first encounter between the two teams ended in a goalless situation. The Bukola Saraki Boys are on the brink of relegation as they face Sharks this Wednesday, at the Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Nasarawa Utd v Bayelsa Utd
Bayelsa United emerged victorious in the first encounter, as they pipped the Solid Miners 2-1 in Yenegoa, when Uche Ihuarulam and Bernard Okoronta scored to give the Bayelsa side the three points. Nasarawa United may not come out as victors in this fixture, but with the likes of Victor Namo who is currently topping the league scorers chart, anything can happen.
Kwara Utd v Gombe Utd
Bishop Onyeudo, who is now doing business with Enyimba international, got the match winner for the Savannah Scorpions as his effort earned Gombe United the full points last time out. The Afonja Warriors must do the needful if they want to amass the full points, although Gombe United have not been fantastic on away grounds.
Enugu Rangers v Akwa Utd
Sharafa Usman netted in the reverse fixture to give Akwa United the much needed points in the first meeting in game week 12. The Flying Antelopes will be hosting them at Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium this Wednesday.
