Halftimeng Serie A Team of Week 12 (2017/18)

We have seen 12 weeks of Serie A action and it gets even closer at the top despite Lazio, Roma and Sampdoria having a game in hand. Without further ado, here’s my team of the week in a 3-4-3 formation:

In Goal after stopping the league leaders and free scorers Napoli for only the second time since February is Stefan Sorrentino. My Defense includes Nenad Tomovic as he joins his Chievo team mate as his good positioning and tackling helped stopped Napoli from scoring. Milan returned to winning ways and Alessio Romagnoli was immense as his team kept a clean sheet at the Mapei stadium and he also bullied the goalkeeper for the side’s opening goal. Bartosz Bereszynski of Sampdoria completes the defence with a solid derby performance.

In Midfield is Suso as he continues to be the shining light in Milan’s indifferent season so far. Another Spaniard Iago Falque was intelligent for Torino as they earned a point at the near full capacity San Siro vs the 3rd placed Inter. Juan Cuadrado has been really good for Juventus since joining from Chelsea and earns himself a place in the team. Paolo Farago of Cagliari completes the midfield as his goal earned his side all 3 points to stay even further from the early season relegation fight.

Upfront is Roma’s Gerson with the surprise of the week with a brace and overall good performance. Ante Budimir was really good as Crotone won away at Bologna. Duvan Zapata was at his forceful best as he contributed 2 assists to help Sampdoria take all the available points in the Derby della Lanterna.

Coach of the week is Eusebio Di Francesco, he continued his Champions League exploits with another impressive win at Tuscany to keep pace with the leading pack.
