On the day of my wife’s birthday and our 8th Wedding Anniversary; my team of the week selection returns after an overwhelming last few weeks preparing for Copa Lagos 2017. I must apologise to all those who consistently check on this page, giving me feedback as well as their anticipation for the weekly selection; Thank you for your support.
This past weekend it was all about Tottenham Hotspurs and their ability to throw a spanner into the Manchester City works; but at the end it was disappointment galore across the footballing landscape as Pochettino’s men were quite disappointing. It was like a man driving his car into a river; Spurs were all over the place devoid of a plan. The Argentine seemed to have played into the hands of the so called attacking football apologist, not approaching the game with a concrete plan to execute; but you have to give Pep Guardiola and Manchester City credit for the fantastic football they are playing; it is quite electric and great to watch.
On the subject of been great to watch, Wilfried Zaha has to be amongst the Premier League’s best players on current form; his skills, pace and trickery have been part and parcel of what has galvanized Crystal Palace over the last few weeks. Zaha needs to perform at a very consistent level to be considered in the top players conversation at season’s end, hopefully Palace’s top flight status remains guaranteed.
This week’s top selection pays tribute particularly to two struggling London Clubs; West Ham and Crystal Palace. Both teams have turned the corner of late and credit must go to David Moyes and Roy Hodgson; two managers who are using these jobs to salvage their damaged and battered careers.
My Team of the week is selected in a 4-5-1 formation as follows:
