Halftimeng Premier League Team of the Month (August 2017)

The first month of the 2017/18 season has sped passed us so quickly that for once we could say the International break came to our rescue, helping to manage the pulsating nature of the league so far. Just like last season Manchester United have a 100% record from their first three games, but we still have a very long way to go so Manchester United fans don’t get too excited.

I must say that the surprise package so far has to be Huddersfield Town, newly promoted but playing like Premier League royalty, seven points from a possible nine has made everyone take notice of the Yorkshire club leading to most changing their minds on them been spot on relegation candidates. If we were to mention disappointments thus far, you would be right if your focus narrowed its sight to London; Crystal Palace and West Ham have been hugely disappointing, little wonder both managers are odds on favorites to get the sack first this season.

To the players generally, you can not look beyond Ahmed Hegazi as your best newcomer so far and Henrik Mkhitarayan is the standout player in the league as a whole so far; here are the players that make the cut for the month of August in a 3-4-3 formation:

  1. I am scratching my head and wondering how either of Jones or Bailey didn’t make this team! A defence that has not conceded any goals in 3 and even contributed in the goal scoring area (Bailey scored). I wld however choose Jones ahead of Bailey based on his all around play and improvement in his game.

    1. Very Valid point; I battled long and hard with the option of dropping Jones and/or Bailly; however, I considered that they play for a top club, Manager is renowned for being defensively solid and decided to go with Zanka; who plays at newly promoted Huddersfield, who are also yet to concede in the Premier League; that has to be remarkable in some how.

  2. Massive disagreement with this. Bailly and Pogba should definitely have made this list. I know there is probably some apprehension about having too many players from the same team but when that team has won 3, scored 10, conceded 0, u have to give them their due.
