Matchday 27 halftimeng.com Nigeria Professional Football League award of the best team for this week goes to El-Kanemi Warriors.

The Maiduguri-based team emerged the halftimeng.com team of game week 26 when they held Akwa United  to a one all draw at the Uyo Township Stadium last week Sunday. Zachary Baraje Boys was chosen ahead of three teams over the weekend to be our team of the week for the second consecutive time, the teams are, Kano Pillars who defeated resurgence Sharks Fc by 1-0 in Kano, Kwara United who also beat Enyimba by 1-0 in Ilorin, and Bayelsa United for stopping ABS Fc from picking a point in their match as they stopped the visitors by 2-0 with both goals coming five minutes before stoppage time in Yenegoa at Samson Siasia Stadium.

The best player award for this week goes Austin Ekpoma. Ekpoma was instrumental in Dolphins Fc victory right from the blast of the whistle, and he scored an historic goal in the 15th second of the game and was also all over the visitors as they pummeled Enugu Rangers by 2-0 on Sunday at the Liberation City Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Austin Ekpoma has been picked ahead of two players who single-handedly won their respective team matches by scoring on two occasions, they are Nduibisi Ekweruibe of Kaduna United and Alaba Johnson of Wikki Tourists.

El-Kanemi head coach, Zachary Baraje  takes the coach of  week 27 award,  winning the award for the second time in quick succession.

Baraje earns the award as his Boys trounced Warri Wolves by 3-0 goals with all three goals coming in the space of 20 minutes of the match to send the Sea Siders back to base without taken anything home.

Sharks Fc goal keeper, Danladi Isah will be manning the goal post for this week’s best 11. Danladi was exceptional for the Blue Angels against Kano Pillars. He denied them a number of goal scoring chances, he also stopped a spot kick.

Ifeanyi Udoji of Enyimba will lead the four-man defence along side Kwara United duo of Saka Habib and Okechukwu Odita while Shooting Stars left full back, Mutiu Adegoke will complete the four-man defence.

Austin Ekpoma of Dolphins Fc will stare the ship in the middle of the pack,  Bayelsa United United powerful midfielder Obinna Njoku , who can play any role in the heart of the midfield will play a defensive role, Lobi stars match winner,  Douglas Archive will play behind Nduibisi Ekweruibe of Kaduna United who will play an offensive role and also will support the two strikers upfront.

Alaba Johnson of Wikki Tourists and El-Kanemi’s top scorer Raphael Boumsong who has netted five goals in El-Kanemi’s last six games will be in the attack.

In selecting our team of the week, we try to narrow down the top performers in each league and postion; whilst trying to have some kind of quota system. The process may not be perfect, but we try to make it work and most importantly its sometimes the opinion of the writer, so sometimes you favorite player might just miss out.
