The Peoples’ Elephant return to the league summit with a 1-0 victory over Akwa United, Nasarawa United compounded Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) woes as the relegation battle between the two sides ended in an emphatic victory for Nasarawa who pummeled the Ibadan side 3-0 thus sending them to the bottom of the table.
Ogenekaro Etebo got his second hat-trick of the season while league top scorer Victor Namo and Christian Pyagbara scored twice in their respective game.
Nasarawa United 3-0 3SC
The Oluyole Warriors suffered a 3-0 defeat in the hands of Nasarawa as NPFL top scorer, Victor Namo sunk the visitors to the bottom of the log with a brace. Both teams were on the same number of points prior to the fight against the drop but Nasarawa took all three points and moved out of the basement with 46 points clear.
Sharks 3-0 El Kanemi Warriors
Christian Pyagbara was the hero in this encounter as he netted on two occasions to send the Borno Warriors back to base empty handed. Both teams created enough chances in an entertaining encounter but failed to convert their goal scoring chances. The Blue Angels are now on the 10th position with 47 points.
Kwara 0-0 Lobi Stars
Lobi Stars seems to have escaped the threat of relegation on Wednesday when they muscled out a vital point away from home against Kwara United in Ilorin. The Makurdi-based side will be hosting Gombe United in their next home match, a win in that game will more or less guarantee their status in the top flight. Lobi are 15th on the NPFL table with 46 points from 34 games.
Heartland 0-0 Sunshine Stars
Sunshine Stars recorded their third away draw of the season in Owerri on Wednesday as they held the Naze Millionaires to a barren draw in front of their fans at Dan Anyiam Stadium. Heartland Fc are now 13th on the log with 46 points while Sunshine Stars maintains the 9th position on the league standings with 48 points from 34 matches. This is the second consecutive time the host will be sharing points at home.
Enugu Rangers 2-0 ABS Fc
Two goals in each half of the 90 minutes ensured victory for Rangers with a comfortable 2-0 home win over struggling ABS in Enugu. Chinedu Udeagha fired in a 22-yard free-kick to give the Flying Antelopes the lead in the 8th minute before Onoriode Marshall sealed the victory for the homers to send the fans into wild jubilation. ABS Fc are now 17th on the NPFL log while the host are 5th with 51 points from 34 games.
Enyimba International 1-0 Akwa United
It was a hard earned victory for Enyimba as they continue their impressive home clean sheet. Emeka Nwana lone strike in the 38th minute against the Promise Keepers on Wednesday powered the Aba Warriors to the top of the table with 55 points from 34 matches.
Nembe City 1-0 Bayelsa United
It was indeed a derby to behold as Nembe City pull local rivals Bayelsa United down from the summit to second spot after a 1-0 win over the Restoration Boys. Obioma Arinze came off the bench to score the only goal that separated both sides on Wednesday. Nembe City, now have 45 points to geared towards retaining their premier league status, while Bayelsa remain on 54 points and second behind new leaders Enyimba.
Wolves 3 -1 Wikki Tourists
Oghenekaro Etebo first half hat-trick condemned Wikki Tourist to a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday at the Warri City Stadium. The Sea Siders bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Kano Pillars on Sunday to register one of their biggest wins this season. Waziri Christopher opened the score sheet for the Tourists two minutes after Etebo got the first goal of the day before he completed his hat-trick in the space of 17 minutes.
Kaduna United 1-0 Kano Pillars
Kano Pillars were defeated 1-0 in Kaduna by Northern rivals Kaduna United in a northern derby on Wednesday. The Crocodiles still hold their their 100 percent home record this season, they are yet to lose a point at home this term. Tijani Adamu scored the only goal of the derby in the second half to hand his team the maximum points. Kaduna United take their points on the log to 47 from 34 games.
Gombe United 1-0 Dolphins
It took a 66th minute spot kick by Lucky Edjebare for the Savannah Scorpions to get the full points against the Pride of Rivers on Wednesday at the Pantami Stadium. Gombe United are now two points above Dolphins Fc who are placed on the 11th spot with 47 points from the same number of 34 league matches.
