The Globacom Nigeria Professional Football League (GNPFL), continues this midweek with Matchday 34 games as the apex League in Nigeria gears toward an end. Ten matches will be played simultaneously across various match centres on Wednesday, 25th of September, 2013.
It’s going to be a derby midweek in the NPFL, there will be a Northern derby to witness between Kaduna United and Kano Pillars while in Bayelsa too, we will have the Bayelsa derby between Bayelsa United and Nembe City in Yenegoa at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Enyimba International Fc will be aiming to go top of the league table when they host Akwa United on Wednesday, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan and Nasarawa United will engage in a battle against relegation at the Lafia Township Stadium; definitely this has to be the star match of the week.
Kaduna United v Kano Pillars
Kaduna Township Stadium will come alive on Wednesday as the two northern sides go head to head in the northern derby. Kano Pillars are aiming to retain the league title while Kaduna United are looking forward to keeping a 100 percent home record this season as they are yet to drop a point at home this term. The first leg ended in a five goals thriller in favour of Kano Pillars as they pipped the Crocodiles 3-2 in Kano.
Nembe City v Bayelsa United
Samson Siasia Stadium will host the two Bayelsa teams in a second derby of the Matchday as Baribote Boys and Restoration Boys will be trading tackles in a classic encounter. Both teams gained promotion to the elite league this season, Bayelsa are currently topping the NPFL standings while Nembe City are wallowing in the drop zone. Peter Ebimobowei got a brace for Bayelsa United in the first meeting as Bayelsa United recorded the maximum points.
Enyimba v Akwa United
2013 Federation Cup Winner are fourth on the log with 52 points a victory against Akwa United will push them up on the league table and it will brighten their chances of winning the league tittle as well if Bayelsa United fail to win the derby match. The Promise Keeper kept a clean sheet in the reverse fixture when Namso Edo goal secured the three points for Akwa United.
Warri Wolves v Wikki Tourists
The Sea Siders must put the Federation Cup final defeat by Enyimba behind them and face the league squarely, Warri Wolves in their three games have not been convincing with a decent result, Wikki Tourists won their last game by three goals to nil while Wolves lost to Kano Pillars by two goals to nothing. The Tourists are placed on the 18th position on the table, they are capable of springing up a surprise, they defeated Wolves in Matchday 14 by 2-1.
Gombe United v Dolphins Fc
The Savannah Scorpions are yet to drop a point at home this season, they remain a hard nut for away teams to crack. It’s going to be a difficult outing for the Pride of Rivers on Wednesday. The visitors narrowly beat Gombe United in the first fixture in game week 14 when Victor Ezuruike got the match winner for Stanley Eguma’s men.
Nasarawa Utd v 3SC (Star match)
This match will be a decisive encounter for both teams. The two teams are relegation bound, a win for the Solid Miners in this relegation battle will shot them out of the basement. 3SC recorded a point in their last away game against Heartland Fc, they can stun the home team if care is not taken. The Oluyole Warriors were victorious in the reverse fixture with a 2-0 win.
Kwara United v Lobi Stars
The Afonja Warriors defeated the Benue Army with a shocking 0-1 victory in Makurdi in Matchday 14 when they first met. Yahaya Adamu strike made the difference in that game as his effort gave Kwara United the crucial away points. Lobi Stars are confident of getting revenge this time when they meet the host on Wednesday, they have recorded 4 points in their last two league matches.
Sharks Fc v El-Kanemi Warriors
Resurgent Sharks Fc will be hosting ELKANEMI Warriors on Wednesday at the Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt. The Blue Angels were unable to pick a point in their last away game when they lost by a lone goal to Sunshine Stars of Akure on Sundaywhile ELKANEMI managed to march pass Gombe United with a slim victory. The first encounter between the two teams ended 2-1 as the Borno Warriors beat the Blue Angels to earn the maximum points.
Enugu Rangers v ABS Fc
After their 2-1 win on Sunday in Ilorin against Heartland Fc, Bukola Saraki Boys will be playing away to Enugu Rangers who have not lost a point at home in their last five home games. Kabir Dogo Boys are hopeful of returning to Ilorin with a fair result. The Flying Antelopes suffered a 2-1 bashing in the first match-up. The visitors are five places off the relegation zone in the NPFL.
Heartland Fc v Sunshine Stars
Two goals from Akure Gunners shot stopper, Moses Ocheje, was the major difference in the first leg as he helped his team to registered a 2-1 home victory over the Naze Millionaires in Akure. Heartland Fc disappointed their fans in their last home match when they dropped a point as 3SC forced them to a one all draw, they wouldn’t want a similar situation to occur on Wednesday at the Dan Anyiam stadium where they will be entertaining the Ondo-based outfit.
