European Team of the week 28/10/13

On a weekend when it was all about the biggest club football match, the biggest rivalry; it just didn’t leave up to expectation; on the other hand the Revierderby was the headline game; unfortunately Dortmund remain second after an excellent performance behind Pep’s Bayern who remain undefeated. In France, Lille continue to lock the door with the keys thrown away and Roma make it nine out of nine wins with only a goal conceded.

My team of the week for the rest of Europe is as follows in a 3-4-3 Formation:

In Goal, Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama makes it 9 clean sheets so far this season with no goal conceded in 585 minutes; second appearance in a roll for the Nigerian Captain.

In my back Three, Bayer Leverkusen’s Giulio Donati has attracted a lot of attention lately and may just be in contention for an Italian National team call up; if you ever wondered how come Roma have been greatly transformed defensively; asides the manager? Mehdi  Benatia  is one major reason. Jonathan  Tah, only 17 and another in the long line of talent coming out of Germany.

No Midfield is ever complete without the presence of Andreas Iniesta with another stellar performance in the otherwise calm El Clasico;  Marco  Parolo gets a place after a solid performance against Milan with his involvement in Parma’s last five goals with three goals and two assists. Antonio Candreva has scored the same number of goals he scored during the entire of last season in the first nine games of the season; Henrikh Mkhitaryan slotted into this Dortmund side like he was born to play in it; a man of the match performance in the derby and was involved in all Dortmund’s goals.

Unlike his fellow debutant at the El Clasico; Neymar was fully involved in all that was great about Barcelona on the night; Arjen Robben has ensured that he remains a major part of the Pep project at Bayern and completing our team is Mario Mandzukic keeps delivering despite his manager’s flirtations with various systems.

If you create a new Serie A record, concede only a goal in nine games and visit a stadium where the host are undefeated in 22 games; you deserve to be the manager of the week; Rudi Garcia as quietly built a good team chemistry and ethic that has Roma heading in the right direction.

Take a look at our goal of the week, absolute Golazo from Alexis Sanchez.
