EPL Week 3 Review: Liverpool and Arsenal edge derbies, City return to winning ways

Giroud-Spurs-2013Daniel Sturridge scored his third league goal and his fifth of the current campaign, as Liverpool defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Anfield this afternoon.

In the second derby of the day, Olivier Giroud’s flicked finish in the 23rd minute, was all Arsenal needed to beat Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates.

In Saturday’s games, Manchester City returned to winning ways, with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Hull City in the early kick-off, with new boy Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure getting the goals.

Everton recorded their third consecutive draw of the season, as their game against Cardiff ended goalless. Hatem Ben Arfa’s delicious curler gave Newcastle their first win of the season, as they defeated Fulham 1-0 at Saint James Park.

Crystal Palace also got their first victory of the current campaign, with a 3-1 win over Sunderland. Stoke continued their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 win over West Ham, while Norwich also defeated Southampton 1-0.

Davies and Pablo scored the goals that gave Swansea a 2-0 success over West Brom.
