Diego Costa’s goal wins Madrid derby for Atletico

DiegoCosta-MadridDerby-Sept2013Real Madrid had no response for Diego Costa’s 11th minute goal, as they lost 1-0 to their city rivals in Carlo Ancelotti’s first derby.

Gareth Bale was only fit enough to start on the bench, as Ancelotti went with the attacking quartet of Di Maria, Isco, Ronaldo and Benzema.

It was Di Maria who lost out to Felipe deep in Real’s half for Costa’s goal. Felipe found Koke, who played the Brazilian striker in, with a lovely pass, for him to net his eighth goal of the campaign with a tidy finish.

This is the first time in Atletico Madrid’s history that they have won their first seven league games.
