2014 WORLD CUP DRAWS: NIGERIA GETS ARGENTINA AGAIN!

Previews-Final-Draw-2014-FIFA-World-Cup-2876972The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Iran on the 16th of June in their opening group game of the FIFA World Cup, followed by games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina on June 21st and 25th, 2014 respectively.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup takes place in Brazil next summer, and the final draw was concluded some minutes ago. Our Mock draw was off-radar I’d say but the real draws have produced some exciting fixtures that you don’t want to miss next summer. I think we will be having more than one proverbial “Group of Death” next year. Wondering why? Check out the teams in Groups B and G.

The opening game of the World Cup will be between the host nation, Brazil and 1998 surprise package, Croatia on June 12, 2014 in Sao Paulo.

3477231Group A

Brazil
Cameroon
Mexico
Croatia

Analysis: Brazil will advance. If Cameroon gets their acts right, they should join Brazil ahead of Croatia and Mexico.

Group B

Spain
Chile
Australia
Netherlands

Analysis: Spain and Holland will be a rematch of the 2010 World Cup Final. Both teams are favorites to progress but Chile is no pushover.

Group C

Colombia
Côte d’Ivoire
Japan
Greece

Analysis: Looks like a group with no clear favorites considering the pedigree of the teams.

Group D

Uruguay
Italy
Costa Rica
England

Analysis: Italy looks like the favorites but you can’t rule out England’s chances. Uruguay will be a tough team with Luis Suarez in great form. Tough group no doubt.

Group E

Switzerland
Ecuador
Honduras
France

Analysis: It’s a fair draw for France on paper and they should pull through, second place will be decided between Ecuador and Switzerland.

Group F

Argentina
Nigeria
Iran
Bosnia-Herzegovina

Analysis: Yes! Nigeria gets Argentina again and the Albaceleste should come out tops with the Super Eagles joining them from this group but there is a Bosnia-Herzegovina lurking somewhere around the corner.

Group G

Germany
Ghana
USA
Portugal

Analysis: Another group of death I think, USA won’t be too happy with the draws, Germany are the favorites with Portugal but Ghana can still spring a surprise just as they did in 2010.

Group H

Belgium
Algeria
Korea Republic
Russia

Analysis: Will it be Belgium’s year considering their present generation of footballers? Russia as well looks very strong but Korea Republic and Algeria are no pushovers
